RadiMation has some requirements for the PC(-environment) that is used to perform the EMC tests on.
Memory[edit]
Radimation need a considerable amount of memory to perform at its best. As a guiding line there should be at least 256 MB(Mega Bytes) of free memory. Free memory is defined the amount of free ram without having to use the swap file. Not the total amount of memory that put in to the machine. How do you determine the amount of free memory?
- Start you machine from power off, so no hibernate or restart.
- Determine the total amount of memory put into the PC.
- Start the windows task manager and determine the commit charge.
- Calculate the amount of free memory by subtracting the amount of memory from point 3 from the amount of memory from point 2.
If the amount of free memory is less then 256 MB there are several options to create more free memory, depending on the configuration:
- Insert more memory modules into the machine
- Remove programs with large memory usage and that do not involve measuring, for example VNC viewers.
- Prevent that programs are started automatically during the booting of the PC
CPU speed[edit]
The recommended CPU speed is 2 GHz and above.
Hyperthreading[edit]
The recommendation is to turn the hyper threading feature off. Especially when using the machine for report generation. RadiMation version 5.3 should include a workaround for the slowness of the Report generator, however this is not yet completely tested.
GPIB card[edit]
The GPIB hard- and software needs to be installed correctly before the installation of RadiMation. If the card is not installed before the installation, D.A.R.E!! is not responsible for any additional costs or delays that may occurs if the card is not installed. The GPIB Card has to be a card that is supported by the National Instruments NI-488.2 library.
Microsoft office[edit]
The components of the Microsoft office suite must be fully installed and working, before they can be used for report generation. The components that can be used by RadiMation are:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
Support[edit]
During the installation an administrator from the IT department must to be available, and in the building. This person must have access in granting rights, for one day or more. Also this person must have knowledge of the network situation. D.A.R.E!! is not responsible for any additional costs or delays that may occurs is this support can not be provided.
Rights needed:
- looking at the 'C:\' drive
- Full rights on the 'C:\Program Files\Dare Development' folder. (Please note that the path may be different depending on the language of the OS.)
Installing[edit]
The first time RadiMation needs to be installed with administrator rights. Upgrades have no need for full rights. For an update the following rights needs to be set:
- Full rights on the 'C:\Program Files\Dare Development' folder. (Please note that the path may be different depending on the language of the OS.)
