Reference data

RadiMation® file types and locations

The RadiMation® software uses different kind of file extensions to store different types of data. RadiMation® uses different sub-directories to store different file types. During the installation of RadiMation®, these sub-directories are automatically generated. The exact location of these sub-directories depends on the location where RadiMation® is installed. All the directories are created by default in the main installation directory of RadiMation®. The default directories can be changed on the "Directories" tab of the Configuration window of RadiMation®

RadiMation® Installation Directory

Depending on the used Windows® operating system and the language of the operating system the main installation directory can differ. The default main installation directory of RadiMation® is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\", but on for example an Italian operating systems the default main installation directory will be: "C:\Programmi\DARE Development\RadiMation\". The real main installation directory of RadiMation® can also be changed during the installation of the software, and also due to the use of older RadiMation® versions the exact location of the main installation directory can be on other locations.

Equipment Under Test file (*.EUT)

In a Equipment Under Test file (also called EUT-file) information about the EUT is stored. These files are stored from the EUT window. The file only contains basic information about the EUT. The file itself doesn’t contain any test results. The test results are stored in the same directory with the same filename but with a “*.T??” extension. The extension of the file is “.EUT”, the name and location of the file can be specified by the user. The default location to store Correction files is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\EUT_File\"

Calibration file (*.CAL)

In a calibration file all information and results of a calibration are stored. The calibrations are used during substitution test to apply the correct power level. The extension of the file type is “.CAL” , the name and location of the file can be specified by the user. The default location to store Correction files is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\CAL_File\"

Test Setup File (*.TSF)

In a Test Setup File (also called TSF-files) all settings for a to be performed test are stored. These files can loaded and stored with the help of the different Test Settings windows. The name of the files are not important. The naming and the locations of the files are managed by the RadiMation® software. The user only sees a list of available applicable TSF files. The description of the file the users sees is stored inside the TSF file and is not relatable to the name of the file. The extension of the type is “.TSF”. The default location to store Test Setup Files is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\TSF_File\"

Correction file (*.COR)

In a correction file all information of a correction is stored. These files are stored from the Correction editor window. The files are used for different purposes:

  • Correction of values measured in a device driver
  • Limitation of power for amplifier protection
  • Test levels during immunity tests
  • Limitation of injected current during immunity tests
  • To be measured frequencies during emission tests

A better more descriptive name could be “Frequency dependant data file”. In a correction file different data columns can be included, with an unlimited number of data-rows. Depending on the use of the correction file different columns can be necessary. Besides the data table, the correction file also remembers how to interpolate between the data-rows. The extension of the type is “.COR”, the name and location of the file can be specified by the user. The default location to store Correction files is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\COR_File\"

Limit Line File (*.LLF)

In a limit line file all information of a limit line is stored. These files are stored from the limit line editor window. The files are used during emission measurements. The extension of the type is “.LLF”, the name and location of the file can be specified by the user. The default location to store Limit Line Files is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\LLF_File\"

Sequence file (*.SEQ)

A Sequence file can contain the configuration of one or more Test Setup Files. The Sequence file can be used to perform multiple test after eachother automatically. The extension of the file type is “.SEQ” , the name and location of the file can be specified by the user. The default location to store Sequence files is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\SEQ_File\"

Location file (*.LOC)

In a Location file information of a to be measured antenna tower is stored. These files are stored from the Location window. The file only contains basic information of an antenna tower, and the to be measured frequencies. The file itself doesn’t contain any test results. The test results are stored in a sub-directory with the same name as the Location file. The sub-directory contains the test result files with the same filename but with a “*.T??” extension and a "*.M??" extension. The sub-directory also contains the available Frequency and Test Setup files for the location. This file type is only available when the Antenna Diagram module is activated. The extension of the file is “.LOC”, the name and location of the file can be specified by the user. The default location to store Correction files is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\LOC_File\"

Configured Device Drivers (CONFDVDR)

The CONFDVDR sub-directory of the RadiMation® main installation directory contains the complete configuration of the RadiMation® software. This directory can contain the following files:

  • SETTINGS.INI: The main RadiMation® configuration file. It contains all the important settings of the software
  • RDC*.INI: Each RDC*.INI file, stores the configuration of a configured device driver. All the modifications made on the "Device Drivers" tab of the Configuration window of the software, will be stored in one of the RDC*.INI files.
  • Other files can also be present in this sub-directory, they store specific configuration items of the RadiMation® software.

The default location of the "Configured Device Drivers" directory is: "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\CONFDVDR\"

Frequency file (*.FRQ)

In a frequency file, all the information of a to be measured frequency is stored. The frequency files are used during the antenna diagram measurements. The frequency files that have to be used, can be selected in the Location file window. The extension of the file type is “.FRQ” , Frequency files should be stored in a sub-directory with the name of the Location file. This file type is only available when the Antenna Diagram module is activated.
