How to use the Schloeder CDG 6000

This application note is intended to make users aware of how to install the dependency's required for using the schloeder CDG 6000. This application note also describes how to determine the required coupler factors which have to be used for the coupler driver when using this device.

Software dependency

To use the schloeder CDG 6000 a driver DLL is required to have RadiMation set up communication with the device. This DLL called "CIT_usb" is distributed by schloeder through there HELIA software solution.

If you did not receive the Helia Software you will have to contact Schloeder and request a copy.

RadiMation is not able to load the "CIT_usb" DLL

RadiMation is able to determine the installation location of the Helia software through the windows registry. By doing this it is able to load the DLL from any location within the file system.

However if for some reason RadiMation is not able to determine the DLL location from the registery it will try to search the default installation location. This location is found at "<disk>:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Helia\DLL"

If the DLL can not be loaded through the registery, and the default installation location does not contain the DLL due to a custom installation directory, Reinstall the Helia software at the default installation directory given by the Helia installer. This way RadiMation should be able to load the DLL from the default installation directory.

Coupler driver

There are two different types of CDG 6000 devices. These two type do or do not have a built-in directional coupler. The type which is used determines what type of coupler driver has to be used.

If the device has an built-in coupler a coupler driver with a FWD and REFL coupler value 0 dB should be used. this is because the CDG 6000 internally corrects its measured power for its built-in coupler.

If the device does not have an built-in coupler, a coupler driver with a FWD and REFL coupler value for the used coupler must be used. This will presumably be 40 dB as is recommended in the manual of the CDG 6000
